The legendary Pearl Thuston-Brown KC Jazz Ambassador Rest In Power(photos)

Myself and Pyramidwest in association with Mr. Garland and Sharon Hill took the opportunity to honor Mrs. Thuston as the first recipient of our KC notable award in 2008. A remarkably accomplished musician, singer and performer. Mrs. Thuston was a beacon for equality of women in the arts she went solo in the late 50's after expiriencing sexism from one of the biggest names in Jazz. Undiminished she went on to have an illustrious career wowing audiences all over the world even though she never formally learned to read music. Simply an amazing woman we salute you Rest in Power.
